hi Diedert, very nice report from "my" island :) but you wrote that "the Mediterranean Flycatcher, in Sardinia, does not migrate" but I can guarantee you that it does every late summer and comes back in spring. The Common Rock Thrush is a common migrant, are you sure that one you saw in Punta La Marmora was not a juv Blue Rock? About Common Starling you are right, they are only wintering and as Sparrows we only have huge numbers of Spanish (the Italian name is Sardinian Sparrow) and Tree Sparrows. Br, Max

Hi Max,
Thanks for the compliment!
On the Flycatcher, I must have misread something in the article, they do indeed migrate shorter distances.
Yeah, we are sure on the determination, red underparts, very streaked upper- and underparts and shorter tail compared to the present Blue Rocks, so jizz was different as well. But, we are probably less experienced with Rock Thrushes then you, so maybe you have a different opinion on the bird?
Okay, cool info! Thank you for your reply! Cheers, Diedert

I'll ask if anyone has more pictures, but as far as I am aware, this was the best one.
