I am not so good in Spanish but did the latest wildfires of this summer had any effect on the arena of the breeding birds? I heard not but this was in the beginning of the fires.

Hi again.

Fortunately, the recent fires didn't destroy or affect the present habitat of the Gran Canaria Blue Chaffinch, even if they were very strong and covered a great surface of the island.

Best regards.

Hi Ruben, was ringing the only purpose of catching the birds or were there other reasons as well?

Hi again.

Well, the purpose of catching the birds is linked with the ringing program of the species from many years (both with colour and metallic rings). I was collaborating with a friend who is involved in this program within the LIFE project, but I'm not working in it. Marking the birds with colour rings facilitate the identification of all the individuals, especially in order to follow their movements.
